Friday 7/10/09 You have the best Tomato Plants yet I've seen. Are these from your Heirloom seeds. I'd like some If you save some. What kind are they???? Looks like Beefstake, but they are to uniform in shape. I think they are going to out-grow your inclosed greenhouse. Thanks for showing them on your web site.

Will pass this on to a friend who has two beeves, the only livestock on their small ranch.

This is for # 2 I have read that maybe one should not use tires to put around plants now due to leaching of chemicals the plants can asorb and transfer to humans. I believe I saw this in Countryside Magazine although it could of been in another one. Just research it if possible. Or use really old tires maybe thats lost a lot of toxic chemicals. I've never tried to use tires. If I had a choice I'd use thick wood frames untreated not Old Railroad ties with Creosote which is a wood perservative and disinfectant and at one time used for tuberculosis and broncitus from a U S Dictionary. Could be harmful to anyone that has alergies or Asthma. JR In Denver!

I have on hand 3 tomato plants, 3 brocolli plants, 3 pepper plants, and about 4 plants of herbs - - 2 kinds. Going to try growing this stuff in old tires to absorb some solar heat to help it all along. Have to put fencing around each set of tires to keep out the coons, deer, rabbits, etc. Keeping water for when needed in a tank from the roof of my garage. Will keep you posted!

We use a small electric heater with an auto thermostat.
We need all the advantage we can get - we are a little bit higher than you "flatlanders" - we are sitting at just a tad under 9,000 ft. elevation.

Looks like a lot of work. Interesting set up and clever though. What will man think of next? Is it working to keep the plants warm at night? Why not use a little heater and a timer like the other folks have done?
