I grew up on a working cow outfit on the west slope of Colorado and one thing you quickly catch on to is that there are two kinds of cowboy. There is one cowboy that rides point (that is, he keeps the leaders of the herd pointed in the right direction – he is always out front, just off to one side and making sure that all goes well) and the other “cowboys” are riding in the dust behind the herd, “bringin’ up the drags” (often with a kerchief over their face, to keep out some of the dust) where it is a hot and thankless, long and smelly day. (The boss said that was “The smell of money”, but then he was ridin’ point.)
In these tumultuous times we still live and survive. We still have our vices and our escapes, our work and our families. Some are aware of the state the world is in while others will sleep peacefully until the end.
I think I first became aware that the American way of life was taking a dangerous trail when I watched the terrifying events in New York City on September 11, 2001. I knew then that our lives would never be the same. These events set me on a quest for knowledge that has, in the years since, led me to believe that there are indeed evil forces of biblical proportions at work in the world. Some of my research will appear in these chronicles. I reckon it is time for each of us to make up our mind to either “ride point” or bring up the drags.
These pages are a hodgepodge of events and projects I am involved in – mostly for my own gratification but are here for others to share – if they so desire.
